> Sculptures: The art of creating shapes

In order to facilitate the storage of the works, they have been classified in three groups as follows:

Commissions: © Personalized Urban Site Art

The commissions are sculptures applied to an urban entourage exposed to the public, to emphasize the surroundings of the place.

They can stay in interior and in exterior places.

Background

I would like to emphasize some technical features of my artwork that I consider of utmost relevance in order for it to be fully appraised:

  1. Gallery size, 0.30-0.50 m height;
  2. Outdoors size, 2-3 m height;
  3. Commission size, 3-20 m height.

All sculptures are made of regular steel or stainless steel sheets. The sheets are 5-10 mm thick for sculptures up to 2 m height, and 20-80 mm thick for larger commissions.

One advantage of my outdoors works is their extraordinary stability, not only because they always rest on three standing points, but also because of their aerodynamic design and their considerable weight.

As regards their preservation, all coloured sculptures (made of regular steel) have up to seven different coatings for protection, which makes maintenance unnecessary. The uncoloured sculptures made of stainless steel require no maintenance either, since this material is unalterable. I have harnessed this inalterable quality to develop a new series (“Moonwind sailers”), which is a stainless steel rendition of the parallel “Fire sailers” series. This allows me to offer two versions –coloured and stainless— of the same sculpture. (Please compare the photographs of “Fire Sailer 51” and “Moonwind Sailer 51” shown below.)

Please note that the seemingly sharp edges and angles of some sculptures are not dangerous, since they are given a smooth, curved finish. In the case of commissioned sculptures meant for public spaces, I take advantage of their large size to place all protruding areas in their upper part, so nobody can accidentally be in contact with them.
